Is news trading allowed? (Prop Specific)
News trading is only allowed if you acquire the News Trading add-on. Pricing of the add-on can be verified at check-out when buying you challenge. Pricing for the add-on depends on the type of challenge and the initial balance of the account.
In case you did not buy the add-on you are not allowed to trade 5 minutes before and/or 5min after a RED FOLDER (High Impact news event). This includes both Market Execution and opening/closing Pending Orders (including take profit and stop loss
Please be aware that you're permitted to keep your ongoing trades active during news events. However, only high-impact news events that directly affect the trading pairs will be considered. If the news isn't directly related to your trading pair or is of low or medium impact (ORANGE or YELLOW folder), you're free to proceed with your trades.
We use Forex Factory as a guideline for High impact events.
For instance, if you're considering a trade in EURUSD and there's high-impact news about CNY, you can still initiate the EURUSD trade since the CNY news doesn't directly impact your trading pair. However, if the news pertains to USD or EUR, you won't be able to open or close a trade within 5 minutes before and after the news. In the same way if you are trading XAUUSD or any US Indices, USD news would affect this pair.
For stocks, trading “earnings” is not allowed. We don’t allow traders to speculate on price fluctuation pre-market and after-market during earning report seasons of any company.
*Please be aware that this table may not include all high-impact news events. All major news events, including high-impact or red news events as listed on Forex Factory, are classified as “Major News” and are prohibited unless you acquired the trading news add-on.
